...I had the chance when the XCAR team toddled off to Italy for a go in the Huayra. It's a long video (30 mins) and it's all in Italian (but subtitled) but it features Pagani telling his story in his own words.

It touches on his origins, his relationship with Fangio and his love affair with cars. He's a deeply, deeply interesting man with much to tell - and some messages to the youth of today.

It was a privilege to meet him, more so to have so much of his time. Truly an Enzo for our today.

Sure, just how do you pronounce Huayra?
Watching Seasons 15/16 of Top Gear recently. They have great fun with that name.

Pagani says 'Ouaira', which is kinda cool. It's hard to pull off unless you speak fluent Italian and are incredibly cool. Most of us stick the 'h' in for 'Hwhyrah'.

So, Alex, do you speak Italian or did you have an interpreter? I'll be sure and watch the video tonight after I get done working. I'm not in love with Pagani's, but I am blown away by the attention to detail. I'm glad they exist. It's really old-world craftsmanship in a space-age package.

We have access to a fluent Italian speaker so translated the interview afterwards. At the time we had an interpreter feeding my questions to Mr P and then giving me verbal cliff notes. It worked out quite well in the end!
